Played some Super Metroid
I played some Super Metroid to get some inspiration and take a look at the level design. Obviously, our sci-fi platformer is partly inspired by Super Metroid so it was important to refresh my memory of the game. I only played it for a little over an hour, but that is about the gameplay amount that I am looking at for the free prototype of our space platformer. I totally forgot that the first scenario of the game has almost zero enemies, but is very atmospheric. It’s definitely time to pull myself away from all the cool power-ups and weapons and start focusing on the tilesets, level editor, and level design. We need polish and enemies. I was happy to find Super Metroid’s Graphics were not as great as I remembered. I also encountered some enemy movement that I had completely forgotten and will be easy to replicate.
